Meet the ANHC Team

Jenny Hurd has a background in traditional, as well as alternative, healthcare. She received her Master's degree in Nursing from Emory University in 1980 and worked as a nurse-midwife in the Atlanta area for 14 years, both in public and private practice. Long interested in a holistic approach to health, a view she shares with her husband, Dr. Hurd, over the years she has taken courses in polarity therapy and Reiki, as well as workshops with Donna Eden in Energy Medicine. Along with Dr. Hurd, she is certified in Dr. John Brimhall's approach to holistic healthcare. Through her personal experience and her observations of family and clients, she in convinced of the effects of chiropractic care and the positive impact it has on one's health and well-being.

Lisa Engle began working at ANHC in July, 1989. She has worked with Dr. Hurd to create the best chiropractic experience possible for her patients. Her primary focus at the clinic is to educate and empower her patients to know and realize their potential. She was selected as the Chiropractic Assistant of the Year by the Georgia Council of Chiropractic in September, 1999. She has shared her expertise by teaching classes for a variety of chiropractic organizations throughout the country. One of her most significant chiropractic experiences was to attend the centennial event in Davenport, IA, the birthplace of chiropractic. Lisa is married and has five “well adjusted” children. She commonly refers to her patients at ANHC as the best in the city as is proud to be a part of the chiropractic profession.

Rachel Higgins is a licensed neuromuscular massage therapist who joined our team in the fall of 2007. She serves the practice as a chiropractic assistant in the mornings and as one of our massage therapists in the afternoons. She has been in Atlanta most of her life. Her interest in therapeutic massage began in her teen years and decided to pursue it as a career after graduating from Lakeside High School in 2004. She attended and graduated from Rising Spirit Institute in Dunwoody, GA. She has worked in chiropractic offices for several years both in Atlanta and during a year that she spent in St. Petersburg, Florida. After returning from Florida in 2006, she has developed her own massage business near our office while also serving the patients here at ANHC. She is excited about the opportunity to work with here, building on her knowledge of chiropractic and learning more nutrition based information through the NRT portion of the practice.

Gaelyn Hurd began to truly appreciate her chiropractic background when she received her first chiropractic adjustment from someone other than her dad. In his initial exam, the other doctor exclaimed “this is one of the best spines I’ve ever seen! This is a testament to a lifetime of chiropractic care.” Gaelyn feels proud, fortunate, and grateful to be that testament.

Gaelyn is at heart a performer and teacher. She loves both performing modern and improvisational dance, working in theatre as well as teaching dance, especially to children. She also enjoys tutoring kids in math. Because natural health and optimal well being are part of her daily living, she’s excited to support and be a part of the ANHC team.
